Advanced Micro Devices has reached an agreement with Meta Platforms to supply up to $60 billion worth of artificial intelligence chips over five years. This deal enables Meta to purchase as much as 10% of AMD. The chip supplier confirmed the arrangement on Tuesday but did not disclose additional terms. This comes after AMD secured a similar large-scale supply agreement earlier with another major client. Meanwhile, Meta aims to enhance its computing capabilities with this technology investment. The companies did not provide further comments regarding delivery timelines or specific chip models. The transaction marks a significant increase in collaboration between AMD and key players in the AI sector. AMD continues to focus on expanding its market share in high-performance semiconductor technology, a space seeing growing demand due to artificial intelligence advancements.
Chip supply agreements of this scale demonstrate the rising demand for AI computing power among major technology firms.
