Domestic markets closed with modest gains, supported by heavyweights State Bank of India and ICICI Bank. The Nifty 50 rose 11.30 points (0.05%) to close at 24,364.85, while the BSE Sensex gained 26.76 points (0.03%) to settle at 78,520.30. The auto and energy sectors led the recovery, while IT, metals, and FMCG stocks lagged.
Analysts noted that the Nifty faced resistance at higher levels and fell short of 24,500. Support is placed at 24,270, while resistance is at 24,500/24,800. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq eased from record highs amid renewed U.S.-Iran tensions. Most major European indices traded in the red on Monday.
Triveni Turbine, State Bank of India, and HDFC Bank were among the most active stocks in terms of turnover. In volume terms, Vodafone Idea and YES Bank were the most actively traded stocks. The market breadth remained negative, with 1,810 stocks advancing and 2,593 declining.
