FIIs Sell Rs 3,255 Crore in Indian Equities; DIIs Buy Rs 941 Crore

FIIs net sold Rs 3,255 crore in Indian equities, while DIIs net bought Rs 941 crore.

Foreign investors (FIIs/FPIs) net sold Rs 3,255 crore worth of Indian equities on April 23. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net bought shares worth Rs 941 crore, according to provisional exchange data. During the trading session, DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 18,498 crore and sold shares worth Rs 17,557 crore. In contrast, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 12,829 crore but sold shares totaling Rs 16,084 crore.

For the year so far, FIIs have been net sellers of shares worth Rs 2.16 lakh crore, while DIIs have net bought shares worth Rs 2.74 lakh crore. Indian equity benchmarks closed negatively on April 23, with the index settling at 24,173.05, down 205.05 points.

Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, noted that markets are expected to remain under pressure due to stalled US-Iran negotiations and naval blockades. Brent crude rose to USD 103.8 per barrel, while the rupee slipped to 94.12 against the dollar.

India signed a new defence industrial cooperation roadmap with Germany, expected to open Germany’s defence procurement market to Indian companies. Key economic data due today includes US Initial Jobless Claims and Global PMI. Key results tomorrow include Reliance Industries and Hindustan Zinc.
