Nasdaq to Extend U.S. Stock Trading to 23 Hours Daily

Nasdaq plans to extend U.S. stock trading to 23 hours a day.

Nasdaq announced it will introduce new products to support the extension of U.S. equities trading to 23 hours a day, five days a week. This initiative aims to enhance global access to popular U.S. stocks. The expanded trading is expected to commence on December 6, pending regulatory approvals.

The upgraded market products will accommodate increased trading activity across all three of Nasdaq’s equity exchanges, focusing on data analytics and visibility. Currently, Nasdaq operates three daily sessions during weekdays: the pre-market session from 4 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. ET, the regular market session from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the post-market session from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The new trading day will run from 9 p.m. ET to 8 p.m.
