During March, as markets experienced a sharp downturn, many mutual funds reduced their exposure to equities. An analysis by ETMarkets shows that around 56 stocks saw more than 10 mutual fund schemes trim their holdings in March 2026 compared to February 2026. From this set, eight stocks were highlighted where over 30 mutual fund schemes cut their positions on a month-on-month basis. All of these stocks delivered negative returns so far in CY26, declining by as much as 33% within just the first three and a half months of the year.
MF schemes holding reduced to 31 in March 2026 from 89 in February 2026; MF market value stood at Rs 2,596 crore with a CY26 performance of -24%. Other reductions included holdings decreasing to 41 from 95, 26 from 65, and 8 from 43, with respective market values of Rs 1,637 crore, Rs 3,175 crore, and Rs 661 crore.
